Parent Testimonials

"We are writing to express our appreciation for the staff taking care of our three year old daughter, Quinn Chartier.  Tonya Ruggles and Bridget Lavalette are amazing child care providers and we are extremely fortunate to have Quinn in their room.  They have a keen ability to address the needs of each child plus keep the needs of the larger group in focus—and they do this all with a sense of humor, kindness and an ability to keep order in a room full of pre-schoolers!

It’s clear that Bridget and Tonya put a lot of time and effort into planning fun, educational opportunities for the kids while also being flexible and open to their needs in the moment.  We are so impressed that Quinn is learning new academic, social, self care, communication, artistic, fine motor skills and gross motor skills every day.

Most importantly, to us, we can see that her emotional needs are being met.  She exhibits a true connection with Tonya and Bridget and she seems quite secure on most mornings when we drop her off.  Her teachers are attuned to her in that when Quinn is “off” either physically or emotionally, they are aware of it.  They have been great about tolerating my daily lunch-time check-in calls and giving me the “report” of how Quinn’s day has been.

We have felt very accepted by all of the staff as a same-sex parent family.  We have never felt negatively judged or like we need to hide who we are as a family unit.  We feel fully embraced (not just tolerated) by both the childcare providers and administrative staff.  The fact that “Quinn has 2 moms” is talked about openly by staff as they field questions and curiosity about it from children.  We are relieved that Quinn gets to experience this environment of acceptance at such a young age.

We also want to thank the other teachers who regularly care for Quinn including:  Brittany Adams, Rickey Chapman, Andrew Myers, Heidi Hutchins, Sally Avery, and Lori Stevens—and we thank Tricia Minard for her leadership.  We appreciate them all so much!"
